Did you get stuck with the after prom party planning?

Like it or not, somebody has to do it. You may have 'volunteered' as a member of the PTA or PTO, or maybe you are just a concerned parent who sees a need and answered the call. Regardless of how you got here, the need to stage a fun, safe after prom party that the kids will want to attend is extremely important.

I know you are not doing this because you have nothing better to do. I know you are not taking on this responsibility because it sounds like fun (it's not). You have accepted this challenge because it needs done and you know that by doing so you might just save someone's life.

My After Prom Party Planning Guide was written to help parents and educators plan, finance, promote and stage a FUN substance-free after prom party - teen-focused celebration. I learned a lot when I organized my child's after prom party. I made mistakes that I can help you avoid. Mostly, our group of concerned parents learned what was needed to hold such an event.

If you or your organization has a part in planning and staging an after prom party for your child's school, this book can save you a lot of time, money and frustration. I wish you the best of luck and I please let me know how my book helped you with your event. ~ Thanks!

Community and Businesses Working Together for After Prom Party

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus... well at least there are businesses and communities that act as if they might be Santa Claus! Throughout the After Prom Party book, our website (and this blog), I emphasize the need for parents and the PTOs to approach local businesses to get involved with the After Prom party. Another community proved how successful such a partnership can be. A school in Windsor Colorado announced that a Dodge Durango will be given away at After Prom party. Wow!

The 2008 Windsor High School After Prom will have over $10,000 in prizes to be given away including a Dodge Durango SUV. They even have invited the public for a Sneak Peek at the After Prom festivities on Saturday before the event. Read the whole story here!

This is a perfect example of how a group of dedicated, concerned parents and businesses have gone the extra mile to ensure the safety of their kids on prom night. Kudos to you, Windsor!

Do you know where that after prom party is being held?

This just in from the The Daily Sentinel, Nacogdoches, TX (Sunday, March 30, 2008)...
Furnishing alcohol to a minor, interfering with public duties and minor in consumption of alcohol, 2000 block of CR 811. A deputy responded to a noise complaint and made contact with a man who said he was throwing an after-prom party. The man told the deputy that he was responsible for the party and all the alcohol. Also, the deputy noted that all the people at the party were underage. The man was arrested.

You've heard it before... "Mom, trust me, this is a party at a friend's house and his parents will be there". Great!

There is still time to organize an after-prom party if your kid's school does not have one planned. The risks of not having a party far surpass the extra work it will take to pull something together with short notice. Regardless of your time frame, my book can save you a lot of time and money.... and maybe together we can save someones life.

Best of luck to all you moms and dads that I've heard from these past few months. This is a great thing you're doing.
